is the UK’s biggest
short film competition, giving the country’s most
promising directing talent a real leg-up in their
careers.
Portobello Film Festival is proud to be premiering the
12 shortlisted films up for this year’s Grand Prize. The
lucky winner lands £30,000 funding towards their
next project, to be made hand-in-hand with the BFI.
On this year’s judging panel is legend John Hurt,
award-winning director Paul Greengrass (The Bourne
Ultimatum) and groundbreaking film maker Mat
Whitecross (Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll).
From action/adventure to intricate animation, these
popular shorts are family-friendly (all rated U/PG),
just over two minutes each and hint at the exciting
things to come from the British directors of tomorrow.
You can catch tonight’s shorts in Picturehouse and
independent cinemas for the next 12 months and on
TV in Virgin Media’s Movies On Demand. To vote for
